Fortune 1621 Cabernet Sauvignon
Fresh nose of cherry, blackberry, subtle raspberry and notes of oak and vanilla. Flavors of ripe cherry, red berry and fresh plum mingled with mocha. The palate is medium bodied with a sweet red fruit with nice balanced acidity and supple tannins.
Darms Lane Winery, owned by Oklahoma resident Larry Bump, takes its name from Darms Lane, a quiet country road just west of Highway 29 between the towns of Napa and Yountville in the Oak Knoll District. It was established in Oak Knoll in 1983 as a Chardonnay estate and in 2002 the 14 acres of original Chardonnay vines were replaced by the Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, bringing the total planted acreage to 17 acres. In 2005, the first estate grown Darms Lane Cabernet Sauvignon was produced from a small three-acre hillside block, with fruit from remaining fourteen acres being sold first to Opus One and now to Spottswoode for their Lyndenhurst label.
Fortune 1621 Cab is sourced primarily from our estate Bon Passe Vineyard with additional sourcing from stellar Cabernet vineyards that Brian Mox knew from his past winemaking gigs. Fresh nose of blackberry, cassis and touches of dried violet. The palate is full-bodied with pure notes of blueberries intermingled with chocolate, caramel & hints of bacon. 90% Cab Sauv, 8% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot. Aged 18 months in 90% French (25% new), 10% American Oak (new).
